I watched this movie in theaters and Melanie Martinez Cry Baby shirt was a very weird experience lol. The movie was definitely different than what I expected. I’m seeing a lot of critique on her approach of social issues like racism, transphobia, sexism, etc— and I agree that it felt sloppy with the rest of the film. I do wish she hadn’t tried to pick so many hot button topics, and maybe stuck with one or two that actually formed part of the plot, and weren’t just kind of randomly thrown in with no real reference back to them. It was definitely a very feminist film and I think she should’ve really focused in on that specifically.

But this is definitely a must-watch if you’re a nerd for visuals. Honestly, every frame of this movie is spectacular. It makes me really interested in Melanie’s potential as a Melanie Martinez Cry Baby shirt director. Bcause she absolutely killed it with that. Other than that, there was no real discernible story until maybe the last half hour? And even that felt pretty unstable, to be honest. The trailer kind of advertised this movie as a plot-heavy thriller.... and that it definitely was not. It’s basically a collection of music videos with visual interludes that loosely connect them.

My perspective om how she jammed all those political messages into it is like this. It's interesting because high school Melanie Martinez Cry Baby shirt are all like "OMG DID YOU CATCH THE SUBTLE MESSAGES LIKE ABOUT HOW TAMPONS SHOULD BE FREE!?" when in actuality she's the opposite of subtle about these issues, she brings them up oddly randomly. They feel a little forced. That being said I think it works with the premise of the movie because it's exactly how kids and teenagers talk about these subjects
