It's a lot easier to pay some dude in India to write some code than to own and Gem Spa Iconic NYC Bodega shirt hundreds or thousands of branches. Sure but then you can say that to just about every business that use to be in the area, from the shuttered CD stores, Japanese restaurants, comic book stores, tattoo parlor, etc. I know there’s a lot of history to Gemspa and we really have to preserve these spaces but it’s a DUMP inside. It has such a shitty selection that literally it’s one of the barest and badly stocked bodegas I’ve EVER been to. ANY corner store in Manhattan will have a bigger selection, you walk in and it literally looks untouched since the 80s but in a really bad way. I’m wondering what is there to save exactly, the selection of things is so outdated and bare that outside of the egg cream it’s completely and utterly obsolete. We need someone to buy the place, keep the name, but update the inside to better serve the community.
