It's funny that you mention that you ran into a guy from Basic later on in life. I never ran into a guy from Basic, but I ran into a female from Every Day Is National Ice Cream Day Kids shirt that I was, ahem, close to, when I was passing through Germany, on my way to Bosnia, a few years later. We met up on the Kasserine that I was posted at, we hung out and kept in touch while I went downrange. Turns out that she had just gotten pregnant before she saw me, and was looking for SPC broken arrow to be a baby daddy to her new child. I wasn't about to have any of that mess.

I really enjoyed your stories, and despite being Australian, and former Navy, a lot of what you went through I can relate to Every Day Is National Ice Cream Day Kids shirt - I also joined straight out of high school and fuck me dead, what a culture shock. The temperature too - I'm from tropical North Queensland, where our weather is either blast furnace or cyclone (hurricane). The Australian Navy has its' Recruit School on the southern coast, with very fucking little between it and Antarctica.
