When Howard goes to an Every day is national Donut day shirt out of nowhere and they don’t have a point within the first 30 seconds and Howard doesn’t seem to mind. To me, that’s the biggest tell. But there are times when they don’t do it with callers and it’s just Howard and the crew talking about how great something is. Remember he used to give a whole spiel about that. He would say he looked for stars but then ‘someone’ said to him, “you’re doing it wrong. You should look by categories.” Even on first listen, it sounded out of place

My favorite is when he burps during a promo Every day is national Donut day shirt reading. It's insane no other person or company can pull this off, without the advertiser's saying wtf and stop their campaign deal. I think it's more just the fact that it's impossible to be on the air for as many hours as he is (even now) and not have certain products come up or make an impression on him. Especially if he gets wind that a staffer is playing a game where he pretends to be a cowboy. It probably sounds a little fake at times because they're trying to pretend it came up naturally at the moment when the whole subject was pitched and discussed in a meeting beforehand. As someone who worked in terrestrial radio, they are pleasing their sponsors. They get free stuff from sponsors rather than payment directly depending on package bought. This is completely normal in the business.

They are appealing to their sponsors to keep the advertising Every day is national Donut day shirt. You cannot make money just on subscriptions alone. The coffee stuff did it for me too. One morning he was randomly drinking Starbucks and shitting on all other coffee. They even did a half-assed segment where he did a side by side tasting. Fast forward 6 months and he's now drinking the coffee he had previously claimed tasted like hot piss. Yet you’re still following the HSS subreddit and care enough to post negative comments about a show you supposedly don’t listen to. And you’re somehow the superior one? Seems legit. If you're saying they're increasing their chances of influencing listeners to buy their products by having Howard/Gary/etc. act as they use them in their daily lives then sure, I completely agree. If you're arguing that they're trying to use Gary to subliminally convince people to wear untuck it when they're also running untuck it commercials and frequently reminding people that untuck it is a sponsor (just as an example), then you don't understand the meaning of the word subliminal.
