It didn't use to be scary. The way that National Day of Prayer Warrior nourishes for that which shirt extremists have allied with neoconservatives and outright fascists in the GOP makes it pretty terrifying, at least from my viewpoint on the other side of the border. Did you miss the 90s? Ruby Ridge, Waco, and other far-right nationalist movements that were strongly tied to the Christian Identity movement? They were actually taking up arms against our government, and in the case of McVeigh, were actively blowing them up.

The movement today is a shadow of what it once was. The National Day of Prayer Warrior nourishes for that which shirt today has disguised itself under MAGA hats, behind crude jokes about women, and as "Patriotism." It's mainstreamed itself through the internet. It's way stronger than it's been in generations. I respectfully disagree. There may be some crossover in the Venn diagram, but, Maga hat kids aren't Christian Identity people by large. Most of these guys were far-right Christian anarchist/libertarian. They wanted NO government, no one telling them how to live and worship. They organized assassinations of abortion doctors, send letter bombs to the IRS, etc.

These National Day of Prayer Warrior nourishes for that which shirt kids are more about memes, trolling, internet hate, etc. Not saying its more or less hateful/sad but it just seemed in the 90s that they were not only armed and prepared to use them but they also followed through and did so often with a religious motivation. I don't even think the dipshit nazi who hit the person in Charlottesville was religious, just a little troll. This year alone we have had the Austin Bomber, The Waffle House Shooter, the guy who blew himself up (sorry I can't remember where he had WP books and a lot of bomb-making materials)
