Treat the original text at : Tom Bray the D is missing because it’s in every hater’s mouth shirt
It's easy to say after the season Tom Bray the D is missing because it’s in every hater’s mouth shirt is over. You know what you're getting from the season and you've already processed experiencing it first hand. It also usually fails to account for further changes that would've been made. Firings, hirings, etc. How much of the blame for this season's struggles would you put on Andrew Luck's shoulders? Obviously, he can't be blamed for when he was out injured, and he did play through several injuries. But, even when healthy, he wasn't entirely the QB that people were expecting coming into the season.

It's hard to give an actual number, but Luck deserves some of the blame obviously. There were a lot of things going against him that not many Tom Bray the D is missing because it’s in every hater’s mouth shirt fans would realize. Early on in the season, we faced really good D lines with an O line that was really bad until the mid-season changes when they moved Mewhort back to LG and put Reitz in at RT. After the O line was average. This meant that Luck was blitzed and pressured an enormous amount of times, and with Pep's playcalling being lots of passes plays with long routes, it means Luck had to throw the ball before getting hit without the receiver being in place. If he had utilized short passing attacks it would have helped wonders.

The second thing was the penalties. Every time Luck would complete a nice pass, or Tom Bray the D is missing because it’s in every hater’s mouth shirt would break off a 40-yard run, it was called back. Anytime the offense tried to get some semblance of consistency and find their footing you'd see the yellow flag and the offense would come back 10 yards. it was without fail. Those first 4 games were ridiculous with the amount of holding calls, and it killed any drive. Third, as we all know, besides the first two games he was playing injured. Yes, Luck played badly in several games, but I wouldn't put it all on him.
