I’m getting more and more pumped for this film. I appreciate that Get out us movie shirt is so clearly a fan of the genre, but I can’t stand the ‘is it a horror/thriller’ debate around getting Out. If he wants it to be a horror film, let it be a horror film. I can’t believe people care enough to argue about these things.  I really don't understand that debate with getting Out at all. If we're talking about something like Seven then yeah it makes sense, but Get Out is clearly horror. It has scared. It has a horror soundtrack. It's literally a horror movie.

It happens whenever a certain horror movie "transcends" its genre. Get out us movie shirt is seen as cheapo dumb slasher stuff by the mainstream, so when one gets nominated for an Oscar or gets huge mainstream praise, naturally people want to pretend it's just a dark thriller, or sci-fi, or mystery. Jaws, Alien, Terminator, Rosemary's Baby, Silence Of The Lambs and Se7en used to all be big poster children for this debate. Very few films seem to escape this unless they're so overtly horror-themed

Why is horror the only genre where people think you can classify it by audience reaction? There is Get out us movie shirt someone saying "wasn't scary, not horror." You didn't find feelings of horror, I did and I am sure other people did too. It's not classified by audience reaction, it's classified by how it's designed to make the audience react. Horror is designed to give the audience feelings of horror and dread. An action is designed to give feelings of excitement. Thriller is designed to give feelings of suspense and intrigue. Often genres will intersect and blend together.
